A stay in Paris dedicated to art, food and photography

Published on Monday, 11 September 2017 in the category Exhibitions and Museum

When it comes to making the most of all the diverse attractions that the capital has to offer, the place you choose to stay plays an important role. The Hotel Paris France enjoys a prime Right Bank location on the Rue de Turbigo, in the immediate vicinity of the Place de la Republique and the Marais. From here you can easily access all the places that are popular with the city’s visitors but also directly experience Parisian life. The capital’s thriving cultural scene and numerous places of interest mean that you’ll certainly never be bored!

Creativity in all its forms at the Autumn Festival

Launched in the early seventies, the Festival d'Automne is a multidisciplinary event dedicated to contemporary art. From September 13th to December 31st, hundreds of performances are presented, taking place throughout Paris and the surrounding area in nearly fifty auditoriums, theatres, museums and other venues. Of all the forms of expression, dance is regularly at the forefront and this year seven pieces by choreographer Jérôme Bel are being performed. On the visual arts side, we look forward to discovering the work of Ryoji Ikeda in La Villette.

A distinctive visual style at the Irving Penn exhibition

His photographs have been seen around the world and preserve the iconic looks of the greatest stars forever, but his name is relatively little known to the general public. It is therefore fitting that the Grand Palais pays tribute to the American photographer Irving Penn (1917-2009) by way of an extensive retrospective running from September 21st, 2017, to January 29th, 2018. Among the works on display will be the shots created for fashion magazines such as Vogue, as well as magnificent portraits of artists and celebrities such as Pablo Picasso, Audrey Hepburn and Yves Saint-Laurent. Using deceptively simple and elegant black and white images, Irving Penn created a sense of intimacy with his subjects which this exhibition invites you to share.

The Salon du Chocolat, a trade show of delicious indulgence

From October 28th to November 1st, the Porte de Versailles Exhibition Centre presents the Salon du Chocolat, the world’s leading chocolate and cocoa trade show. Here you can taste delicious chocolate creations, of course, but also discover the fascinating world of this exceptional foodstuff that inspires chefs and pâtissiers internationally. In more than 20,000 m2 of exhibition space you’ll find demonstrations by leading chocolatiers, tasting areas, live music performances, chocolate sculptures and even a fashion show in which the catwalk parade of dresses made from chocolate constitutes the highlight of the entire event! Workshops where you can learn how to prepare and use chocolate in all its forms are one of the most popular activities. There’s fun for children, too, thanks to the Salon du Chocolat Junior. The world’s largest event dedicated to chocolate and cocoa is an unmissable, and deliciously indulgent, experience!
