The fashion sense of Dalida and arts from all walks of life in Paris

Throughout the summer the Hotel Paris France will be a beautiful epicentre; a base from which you can set out to explore the exciting events scheduled to take place in the French capital. For all the visitors who will be with us during the months of July and August in particular, there will be an opportunity to understand the stylistic evolution of a legendary voice of French music, the great Dalida. And for those who prefer performances to exhibitions, the Paris Quartier d'Eté Festival will be essential.
The Palais Galliera presents the world of glamorous clothing worn by Dalida
For many years her vibrant voice and distinctive accent delighted her thousands of fans and filled countless theatres before she took her own life on May 3rd, 1987, at her home in Montmartre, at the age of 54. To mark the 30 years since the passing of this tragic diva the capital’s own museum of fashion has chosen to dress up her memory for the summer. The Palais Galliera shines the spotlight anew on this unforgettable French singer through the clothes and fashion accessories that adorned her long and successful career. She was not only a talented musician but also a fashion icon, thanks to her exquisitely curvaceous body and the smouldering appearance she knew how to project on stage as well as in her other public appearances. From being crowned Miss Egypt in 1954 she was dressed throughout the rest of her lifetime by renowned couturiers, from Azzaro to Yves Saint Laurent, by way of Balmain. One hundred exquisite outfits, designed in the 1970s and 80s by outstandingly talented creators, will be exhibited at the Palais Galliera until August 13th, 2017. Among other exclusive pieces, there will be the new look dress of the 50s designed by Carven, the velvet bustier in a Hollywood style that was conceived by Jean Dessès, and the ice-blue dress in shantung fabric, a work by Jacques Esterel.
Paris Quartier d'Eté or Paris l’Eté; live shows throughout the capital
Until August 5th, 2017, the annual Paris Quartier d'Été festival brings a new breath of inspiration to Paris through all forms of living art. Even if the event has now taken the name Paris l’Eté, its founding principle remains the same: to offer a certain artistic mix, in which avant-garde and popular works can be reconciled in a radiant harmony. In the four corners of the city you can enjoy live performances of music, dance or theatre, resulting in a warmly inclusive crossover between cultures. As a symbol of this inspiring union, on July 27th to 30th the Indian dance virtuoso Shantala Shivalingappa and the Belgian choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui will be combining their talents on stage at the Lycée Jacques Decour for a dance on the frontiers of the unexpected. Ten days earlier, the proceedings will be opened by Floor on Fire - Battle of Styles, a clash between several dance troupes, involving all styles, following the principle of a hip-hop duel. Come along and have the opportunity to judge and choose the winners!
