Mythical Paris can be yours to explore. This legendary city will unveil its myriad charms to you when you visit in 2014. Speaking of which, a Happy New Year from the Hotel Paris France, where you will be made most welcome when you come for a stay with us. We would like to introduce you to the mythical splendour of our city by recommending some wonderful places and events which we feel will be of great interest to you.

Mythical Paris opens its doors to you

Paris is the home of some of the world’s most famous iconic monuments and landmarks. The Louvre is, of course, the largest Parisian museum. This former residence of French royalty assumed its present status in 1793 and now houses perhaps the world’s finest collection of art and historical artifacts, including the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo.

The Arc de Triomphe should be an essential stop on your itinerary. The world’s largest arch is a triumphal monument commissioned in 1806 to commemorate Napoleon’s victories, and has become a national symbol of France where a flame is rekindled each evening.

If you seek a verdant island of elegant tranquillity within the city, then you should head for the Park Monceau, an enchanting and soothing place of trees and statuary dating back to the mid 18th century.

Built for the 1900 Universal Exposition, the Grand Palais is a magnificent building which boasts Europe’s largest glass roofed space and hosts some fine exhibitions. Two of these can currently be seen. The work of the famed photojournalist Raymond Depardon is examined until the 10th February in 150 colour images from the 1950s onwards. Cartier: Style and History, running until the 16th February, looks at the incredible creations of the renowned jewellery house with some 600 items on show including the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding tiara and Elizabeth Taylor’s ruby necklace.
