For the 13th edition of the Night of Museums, to be held on May 20th, 2017, you can enjoy a festival filled with lights, shows, concerts, and revelatory visits from the setting of the sun until 1:00 in the morning.

The Night of Museums

This free event offers the perfect opportunity to admire the richness of the collections housed in the major museums of Paris (including the Louvre, the Orsay Museum, the Carnavalet Museum, the Museum of Mankind, the Orangery Museum and many more). In this year’s programme, the Carnavalet Museum will delight music lovers with an enchanting musical evening that will take place in its gardens. While at the Bourdelle Museum a concert entitled Beethoven / Bourdelle: Musical Performances in the Garden will also be presented in the open air. The Museum of Decorative Arts awaits you with fascinating exhibitions including those on the themes of Barbie, From Caricature to Poster 1850-1918, and Pierre Frey, a major figure in interior decoration. Located in the centre of the City of Light, close to the Louvre and the Opera, the Hotel Paris France offers the ideal accommodation when you visit the capital to enjoy the Night of Museums.

The Spring Street Arts Festival

Every year since 1997, the Printemps des Rues, a major Parisian street arts festival, has extended an invitation to a large number of performers and companies for a weekend of open-minded sharing and creativity. This year the event will be held on May 21st to 22nd. Usually around 30,000 spectators attend the shows featured by this much-loved festival, offered free of charge in the 10th arrondissement (especially on the banks of the Canal Saint-Martin) and in the 18th. Performances of magic, puppets, theatre, storytelling, music and circus acts, as well as demonstrations of visual arts, dance, guided walks and other entertainment will delight young and old alike.

Summer sales in the department stores of Paris

An essential event for shopping enthusiasts, the Paris summer sales begin on Wednesday, June 28th at 8:00 am and run until August 8th, 2017. This year there’s a whole extra week of slashed prices on a wide variety of goods to enjoy! Fun for the whole family, this is the perfect opportunity to find real bargains among the clothes, shoes, fashion accessories and household items offered by all stores participating in the summer sales. A visit to the Galeries Lafayette, Printemps Haussmann and Bon Marché Rive Gauche department stores will be well worth your while. A survey carried out by Ipsos / Logica Business Consulting showed that 79% of French people wait impatiently for the sales period; 94% of those surveyed are convinced that they will do good business and 66% expect to buy products that they would not buy at any other time of the year. So why not be 100% determined to go bargain hunting?
