Many museums and galleries share individual pieces or entire collections with other establishments to allow more people the chance to see beautiful and exciting works of art. Now you can enjoy the benefits of fine art sharing at the Petit Palais from 1st October 2014 to 11th January 2015 thanks to the generosity of the Museum of Fine Arts in Nantes.

Currently under renovation the Museum of Fine Arts is one of the largest in Nantes. The museum will reopen in Nantes in 2016, but for a short period you can see 7 major paintings at the Petit Palais, where they will be part of a retrospective of notable work from the 19th century entitled ‘From Ingres to Polke’.

Highlights from the collection of the Museum of Fine Arts in Nantes

You’ll find the magnificent Ingres to Polke exhibition in rooms 23 and 24, where works from the Museum of Fine Arts of the City of Paris and the permanent collection of the Petit Palais will be augmented by paintings from the Museum of Fine Arts in Nantes.

Paintings on loan from Nantes are works by Ingres, Tissot, Corot, Vernet, Delaroche and Gerome, and a superb portrait of Polke. Highlights include the beautiful portrait in oils on canvas of Madame de Sennones from 1814-16 by Jean-Dominique Ingres, and Jean-Leon Gerome Vesoul’s ‘Prisionner’, a wonderful oil on wood painting from 1861.

This unique opportunity to see major works from the Nantes collection in Paris is something that art lovers won’t want to miss, so be sure to book a stay at Hotel Paris France. Art lovers may also be interested in some of the excellent photography events taking place in the city this November, and Hotel Paris France is within easy reach of all the venues, including the Petit Palais.
