Ah, the nostalgia of bygone days; memories of a times when cars and other vehicles had real character and appeal. If you like vintage cars, don’t miss the 12th edition of the Traversée Paris Estivale (Paris Summer Crossing), a parade of great old vehicles through the picturesque streets of the capital that takes place on Sunday, July 21st, 2019. Whether you’re a passionate old car buff or are simply curious, you’re welcome to come along and enjoy the spectacle!

A summery and convivial automotive gathering

Cars, motorcycles, buses, bicycles, mopeds, utility vehicles, military vehicles and tractors with a history dating back more than forty years get together for a joyous retro ride through Paris. The fun starts in front of the Conservatoire National des Véhicules Anciens, a car restoration training centre situated in the suburb of Antony, and finishes in the grounds of the Paris Observatory in the southwest of the city. In this lovely setting a giant picnic awaits the participants and the public are also invited. The theme of this year’s rally will be comics.

The Seine and Citroen in the spotlight

All marques and a large swathe of vehicular history will be represented by more than 700 wonderful old vehicles on a route that will crisscross the capital along the banks of the Seine and over its bridges, including the Pont Royal, Pont Alexandre III and Pont d'Iéna. Some drivers get fully into the spirit of the occasion by dressing in period costumes. If the parade doesn’t give you enough time to fully appreciate these automotive and pedal-powered gems, remember that they will all be displayed on the green lawns of the Paris Observatory, Meudon.

The event will also celebrate 100 years of Citroën, so the company’s famous double chevron badge will be proudly front and centre.
