Things to do in Paris this summer are many and varied, so why not let yourself be tempted by the attractive prices of the Hotel Paris France? With our special discount rates for most of the month of August we offer the ideal location from which to enjoy the capital this summer. Paris adopts a languid pace at this time of year as many Parisians leave the city on vacation. But that doesn’t mean there’s a scarcity of things to do. Au contraire; among the countless distractions you will find some exciting exhibitions.

Essential Paris exhibitions for the summer

If you are intrigued by the era of cultural enlightenment and innovation known as the Belle Epoque, then you should not miss Paris 1900: The City Of Entertainment, at the Petit Palais until August 17th. Experience the ambience of Paris as it was at the time of the 1900 Universal Exposition, the high point of the Art Nouveau movement, when France led the way in so many areas of fashion, art, science and cuisine.

The short, but intense and passionate career of the Second Empire era sculptor and painter Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux is the subject of Carpeaux: A Sculptor For The Empire. This retrospective at the Orsay Museum from June 24th to September 28th is the first devoted to the artist since 1975 and demonstrates exactly why the vibrant work of the sculptor of Ugolino And His Sons and The Neopolitan Fisherboy was so popular at the time and has proven so enduring since.

The Museum of Modern Art presents a major retrospective of the Italian artist Lucio Fontana until August 24th. Over 200 works from the 1920s until 1968, the year of this visionary artist’s death, are presented. Included are the once notorious slashed and pierced canvases created by this founder of the Spatialism art movement.
